If you use steel and don't paint it, it will ruin the vehicle with rust. they are not made for that direction of torsion. NEVER X-mount, that is, attach the mounting points to each other across the vehicle at angles. Use 1/8" ANGLE or 1/4 inch FLAT alumnium or, a minimum 1/8 by 1" steel for anything you build on top of the vehicleĪlways use both coupler nuts at each mounting pointĪlways cross-mount (use both sides, never only one side) they must go STRAIGHT down into the coupler nut or they will not thread. M6-30 is probably too long and you can't cut a 1mm thread without exactly the right tool so get the right length bolts for your project!ġmm threads are not at all tolerant of positioning. Probably want M6-1x25MM hex-head bolts to go in those. Zinc coated is fine but you MUST USE NUMBER 8 STEEL. You will want an M6-1 x 18mm or longer coupler nut for any project using them. It cost me months and fifty bucks not knowing this because it was unfindable.
